Legal Question in Traffic Law in Colorado
Accept plea bargain or get representation or fight on my own?
I received a 4pt ticket for not obeying a stop sign. The court sent a plea bargain for 3 pt and says this is the lowest offer I will get. I was hoping for a further reduction because I only have 1 other pt (reduced from 4) in the past 4 years on my license.
If I go to court and ask for a further reduction, would the plea bargain still be available at that point? Would a lawyer be more effective at reducing (not sure of cost though), and would asking for a reduction based on going to driving school usually work?

Re: Accept plea bargain or get representation or fight on my own?
It all depends on the Court. It appears that this is one of the rural county or city courts. You can always ask the court to lower the point to 2 points instead of the oferred 3 based on your good driving record over the past two years.
You can contact an attorney in the jurisdiction where the court is located and check out if the attorney can do any better than you can.
One of the things that good attorney can do is check to see if the Police officer can really prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you failed to obey a stop sign.
But all of this must be evaluated against the cost of an attorney from $500 to $1,000
