Legal Question in Traffic Law in Colorado

Accident - person left seem of accident and is now claiming an injury.

I rear ended a person. They did not want to call the police and did not give their information at the seem. They now claim a back injury and want conpensation from my insurance company. I do not believe that they were injured nor am I sure if this is a person that was in the vehicle at the time of the accident. They do not have my insurance information. How should I proceed.

If they are trying to sue you, you probably need an attorney, particularly if you think they are engaging in some kind of fraud.

I am sorry to hear that you were in an accident. It is good that the police did not respond... otherwise, you may have gotten a ticket.

It is best if you give the other person the name of your insurance company, the name of your insurance agent, and your insurance policy number. If the person wants any other information, just tell them that you do not have any additional and that they can contact your agent for anything else that they need.

If the person is operating a scam and the claim is false, the person will probably not get too far... your insurance company will spot him a mile away... I would, however, give the person the benefit of the doubt and let your insurance company handle it. If a claim is made, they will contact you and you can tell them about your suspicions.

I hope this information helps you. Good luck, David Colt
