Re: Driving Under Age

Hello. Your daughter will be able to apply for her instruction permit when she turns 15 1/2 years old. The ticket that she got for driving without a license, however, will still be on her record and the 3 points (if she pleads or is found guilty) will count against her driver's license. As a minor, she is allowed to have a license as long she does not accumulate more than five points within a 12 month period of more than six points within the time period that the license is issued. Because the violation is for 3 points, she cannot get any other tickets for more than 2 points in a 12 month period or 3 points during the duration of the license, or else her license at that time will be suspended.

Additionally, if she were to receive a second conviction of driving without a license before she received her license, it would be a 6 point violation. The second violation, 6 points, added to the first violation, 3 points, would be 9 points, resulting in the denial and suspension of her license.

I hope this answer helps you. David Colt
