Legal Question in Traffic Law in Colorado

Driving Record

I am planning to move to Colorado from South Carolina. Will Colorado make my South Carolina driving record part of my Colorado Driving Record? I have had a DWI 1 year ago.

Re: Driving Record

Yes - your SC driving record will be accessed by Colorado. If you are currently under suspension, then you will be under suspension in Colorado. If you have been under suspension in SC for more than a year, then you are eligible for a license in CO, but it may take conducting a hearing.

Re: Driving Record

Hello. Yes, your driving record will follow you. When you apply for your South Carolina license, they will make you surrender your Colorado license and they will attach your Colorado license number to the record of your new license. If anything was to happen in South Carolina involving a ticket, DUI, etc., the prosecutor there could reference your Colorado number, get your driving history for Colorado, and then use it for South Carolina purposes.

I hope this answer helps you. David Colt.
