How do i get a speeding ticket deferred

I need to know how to get an speeding ticket in the state of colorado deferred or i guess even expunged so that it does not go on my record and raise my insurance. Keep in mind that this is my first ever ticket.

Re: How do i get a speeding ticket deferred

Hello:

Here's what I recommend: Instead of paying the ticket by mail (if that is an option), go to the court date and meet with the prosecutor. Inquire into whether he will offer you a plea bargain... quite frequently (assuming the ticket is a general 4 point speeding violation) the prosecutor will offer a non-moving traffic violation such as "defective vehicle", etc. Generally, a plea to a non-moving violation will not raise your insurance rates, whereas a plea to a couple of moving violations within a few years period may increase your rates.

Generally, prosecutors will not agree to a deferred sentence on a traffic violation, but in some cases they might do so (so ask the prosecutor for this too.)

If you need help in negotiating or dealing with the prosecutor, please contact me.
