Statue of Limitations?

If you fail to appear for a traffic violation at the 2nd court date, is there a limited amount of time that you can be prosecuted for the offense. For example if I missed a court date for driving under restraint over 7 years ago can I still be convicted?

Once the case is filed, the prosecution has fulfilled its burden for the statute of limitations. But, it may be difficult to prove that you were the one that was driving. The police officer may not be working any more etc.
