Legal Question in Traffic Law in Colorado
I was stopped for speeding in Colorado, my question is are officers required to ask for your registration and insurance? The officer did not ask for either one. Also, we were on a highway and after the cop gave me the ticket he left, before me. Is this legal to leave the driver there or are they required to wait until you pull away for safety reasons?

Yes but they do not have to ask for registration and insurance. The officer is not required to wait till the driver leaves unless the officer has concerns for the driver's health, welfare, or safety. However, this does not change the legal basis for the ticket or an adequate dense against the ticket
