Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

estate in probate

My father just passed away and his estaste is now in probate. My brother is the personal representative. My dad had a will and everything is to be split between my brother my sister and i. Doesn't the estate pay the bills? We don't have to pay them out of our own pockets, do we? We are not fighting over any thing. We just need to know how things work. We have an attorney, but it costs every time there is a question. My brother is the only one who has talked with the attorney. Can you just tell me if we are right in our thoughts that the estate pays the bills? There are not very many bills, my dad's vehicles were all paid for. He had 3 vehicles, 2 of which have already been sold and the money from that has been put into the estate until we have the house sold. Is that the way it is supposed to work?

Re: estate in probate

The estate is responsible for the expenses of estate administration and any allowed claims against the estate and all of your father's income and estate taxes.
