Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

Executor Percentage

What is the legal percentage an executor would normally receive from an estate worth approximately $500,000.00?

How can you prove that the estate attroney is anything but unbaised?

The two surviving sons from a previous marrige are trying to rob my mother blind. One son is very well connected in the Denver area. He is also pretty darn wealthy. My mother is 76 and was married to this man for almost 20 years. The are emotionally stripping away my mothers sanity. They are offering her practically nothing and say take it or leave it.

Please help

Re: Executor Percentage

Your mother should immediately hire counsel to represent her. No percentage may be charged for a Colorado estate, as representatives' fees are subject to a reasonableness test. The estate attorney is required by law to be unbiased. Accordingly, she should hire her own attorney at once to protect her interests if she is concerned.
