Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

what are the executor's fees and the personal representative of managing a person's estate? I have been managing finances for the past 7 years and will be executing the will upon death of the person. Should I have been charging something every year or wait until after the person dies. The estate is worth over $1,000,000 and over half is going to charity. Would I be entitled to a percentage? I was named the executor and personal representative 7 years ago. The person lives in Colorado in a nursing home. Thanks

The executor' s fees come into play upon the death of the decedent's death. Generally, reasonable fees are allowed. The statutory percentage fees, a sliding scale, is considered reasonable. A higher fees may be sought with court approval if a showing is made to justify a higher fees if estate is complex or unsually involved

During the decedent's life you can get paid if an agreement exits which determines the amount of fees for such services. If no agreement exists you will need to get a court order for fees for services rendered.

Best of Luck
