Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado
Power-of-Attorney abused?
Upon my aunt's death a distant relative by marriage stepped forward & took over. She put herself in charge of my uncle & all things financial. A very timid man, uncle signed over power-of-attorney &, at her insistance, agreed to make out a will with an attorney of her choice.
In relating this, my uncle said he felt obligated to leave the bulk of his estate to this woman. He also stated that he was leaving me a small sum of money.
Uncle has been gone six weeks now & I haven't been contacted by anyone. Can I assume that I was not remembered in his will or is it too early to ask this question? Could she have pressured uncle into changing his will?
Thank you.

Re: Power-of-Attorney abused?
Yes, there are steps you can take to determine whether you have any interest and if the estate is being administered properly.
You should contact an experienced trusts and estates lawyer to have these steps and your rights explained to you so you can make informed decisions about the actions that you take.
