Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

property of girlfriend versus ex-wife

I was living with boyfriend 4mos divorcing from wife in Cali. Boyfriend dies and wife trying to tell me I must return all his personal belongings to inc. some electronics valued $500-1000. Do I have any rights to these items due to the fact he lived with me?? Not known if she has receipts for items or does that matter?? I currently have possesion of these belongings.

Re: property of girlfriend versus ex-wife

If the items belonged to him, then you would generally not have rights to those items merely because you were living with him when he died.

There may be exceptions, or the facts may be different then you describe in your question. You should consult with a qualified estate attorney to determine the actual facts and the law that applies.
