How to protect your home from sposes medical bills
My father is is very ill with extensive medical bill that his insurance carrier did not cover. Now his primary insurance is medicare. Is my mother responsible for his medical bills and can she loose her home in the event of his death. She still has a mortgage payment and the 401k is gone due to the medical expenses, surgeries and several hospital stays. Is there a way to remove my father off of the deed to protect my mother so she isn't left without a home? What type of attorney does she need?

This appears to be a question of Colorado Law, so I would defer to an attorney from that state. You need to consult with a Colorado attorney.
An attorney who specializes in consumer law (such as a bankruptcy attorney) may be able to help your mother. Most states have a homestead exemption against creditors for residence home equity. I do not know what the law is in Colorado. It may be that your father can file bankruptcy and prevent any further action. It may be that the creditors can be negotiated with. It may also be possible that an attorney who specializes in Medicaid planning can help you, which is a part of Elder Law. You might search the internet for Colorado attorneys in these fields and contact them, or your mother can get a referral to an attorney in her state.
Good luck.
