Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

Did I get screwed?

My mom died in 1992 of AIDS. My sister Steffanie was born with AIDS. My mother left some money to cover any expenses above & beyond what medicare would take care of and to keep her comfortable. When my sister died in 1996, aunt was the Trustee. It said in her will that I was on drugs and would not receive anything. Now both of my grandparents have passed away. (my mother's father & stepmother). My aunt again is Trustee. I did get $10K from my grandparents. My question is that even though my mother's will has been closed, am I entitled to anything? I have been sober for over 3 years and my aunt kept making promises to me that she would "get my wisdom teeth out for part of my inheritance" and things like that. Now she wants me to sign off and close my grandparents estate and I don't want to. My aunt and I are the last of the McFaddens. She has 2 children. I guess my problem is that if my mother were alive she would have received 1/2 of my grandparents estate $400K-ish. I feel like I have gotten shoved aside by everyone and was just wondering if I had any rights at all in this.

Re: Did I get screwed?

Probably you are not entitled to anything under your Mother's will if you were specifically excluded from it, as you state.

As for signing off on your grandparent's estate, I would want to know what it is you are signing off from. A review of the probate file would reveal that information.
