Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

Small Probate Estates

Is there a law in Colorado that allows an heir/interested party to collect a decedent's personal property assets without proceeding with a probate? In Minnesota, if the decedent's personal property assets are under $20,000, an heir may collect these assets with an Affidavit for Collection of Personal Property without proceeding with a probate.

If there is such a procedure, what is the limit for collection and is there a form for collecting these assets!

Thank you for all of your help!

Re: Small Probate Estates

Yes, the document is called a Small Estate Affidavit and it is permitted for estates with tangible personal property or stock worth less than $50,000 in the aggregate.
