Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

My son died recently. His wife of ten months has retained a lawyer. I have received a certified letter from him stating that she has knowledge of several items of my sons, that as his surviving spouse, are now legally hers. These items were not listed. She also has no legal proof of his ownership of any items that I may have. The lawyer said I have 10 days to get these items to her. Do I legally have to respond to this request? Thank you for your time.
