Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

My wife's step dad recently passed away after dealing with Alzheimer's. He had assets and money from his previous marriage to my wife's mother. We know that they had planned for money to go to the grand kids, but his current wife says that there was nothing set aside and no life insurance, his current wife was the secretary of the lawyer handling the estate of my wife's mother. She will not furnish us a copy of the will and it is currently in probate, does my wife have a right to see the will and should she be possibly protesting?

You have a right to see the will. Under Colorado law the will must be filed with the probate court within 10 days of the person's death. That is a public document even if you are not a beneficiary under the will or heir at law. You may want to talk to an attorney about your rights to estate information.
