Legal Question in DUI Law in Connecticut

Civil Suit b/c of Dui

I got in a car accident about 6 months ago, received a dui. When I pulled out of the parking lot I hit one of the valet attendents. He is citing personal injury. Does my insurance cover civil suits. He is pressing litigation action against me citing a knee injury and personal suffering. My insurance is taking the steps to make sure this is a legtimate claim, what is my exposure money wise if this gets to court and he wins a civil suit??

Re: Civil Suit b/c of Dui

Your insurance policy needs to be reviewed to determine the extent of the coverage. Normally personal injuries are covered to the claim limits of the policy. The DUI may make a difference in whether the insurance policy covers your exposure. In any event, you may be exposed if the injured person recovers more than the policy limits. You need to review this with your insurance company. It would be a big help if you could avoid the DUI. Consult a criminal lawyer about the DUI promptly and proceed from there.
