Legal Question in Banking Law in Connecticut

I am a travel agent and the owner of the business wants to turn the business over to me - I don't want any liability if there is any - the name of the business. I am basically taking the name and what we call our license # which identifies the agency to all the tour companies. Is this just a letter between me and the owner?

From the limited information provided it seems you are taking over the business and therefore taking over any existing liabilities or yet to be known liabilities.

to protect yourself you need to reconsider the method by which you take over the license and name as well as have a proper agreement between you and the existing owner of the business that limits your liability.
