Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Connecticut

Bankruptcy and Income Tax

The last time I filed my State and Federal Income Taxes was in

1999. They were professionally prepared and soon afterward I

started receiving letters from both Federal and State that I owed

them thousands of dollars.

I want to declare bankruptcy and would like to know if I do so, will I

still be liable for these past taxes?

Thank you.

Re: Bankruptcy and Income Tax

Most Likely as the IRS is a perfered creditor. BUT, without knowning the status of your assets and debts, I can only guess on the amount you owe IRS, or If you tax preparer is responsible for the debt for that year. You need to get to an attorney ASAP or an accountant to figure is matter out and how to proceed. Tom noonan
