Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Connecticut

cash deposits

i am filing for bankruptcy, my husband was unemployed for 3mos during the last 12 months but he worked under the table and we deposited cash into our checking account from those jobs, will this be a problem since the money is not on either of our w2 forms?

Re: cash deposits

You should talk to an accountant (not a tax preparer) as you probably would have to file amended tax returns and declare the 3 months of income. If your husband collected unemployment compensation, an attorney should contact the State on your behalf to settle the potential overpayment matter. Call or email me if you would like to discuss this further.

Re: cash deposits

It's not an issue so long as you are up front about it with your bankruptcy attorney and it is included on your Means test and schedule I.

Call me if you have any questions.
