Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Connecticut

Discharge

My wife co-signed for a car for her sister and she didn't pay the loan the loan company took the car and my wife put papers in to file bankruptcy,a couple of days before going to court she made a deal with the company and paid them off,but she still had to go to court and ask for a discharge which was granted,but now all of her charge card accounts have been closed out and nobody wants to give them back what so she do and was it a go idea to pay them anything after she filed.

If I understand the question, your wife filed a bankruptcy and after the filing, but before she received her discharge she paid a company that had a loan cosigned by her sister. That payment, for which your wife was no longer responsible should not have been paid because your wife was not liable for the debt. However, because it stopped her sister from her liability on the car loan, it probably benefited family harmony.

It is not unusual after a bankruptcy to have the credit card companies cancel the cards. Your wife can obtain some new cards, but she should exercise restraint because she does not want to get back into financial trouble. Also, she cannot file bankruptcy again for 6 years.
