Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Connecticut
Are student loans dischargeable in a chapter 7 bankruptcy?
I filed for Chapter 7, and just received a notice of discharge. I also received a notice for an "adversary trial" for my student loans. I went to school in Connecticut and unfortunately did not receive a degree because I could not take time off from work to do an internship. So, needless to say, I am short 3 credits. My student loans total close to $50,000. I have NO assets, and am still paying on a car that has over 125,000 miles on it. My take home pay is $1800 per month and leaves me with no money left for emergency situations, savings or retirement fund.
Am I fighting a losing battle, or is there any advice for me?
