Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Connecticut
Bad Hair
On june 6th I paid $110 to have extentions braided into my hair which is a common African American hairstyle for women. Once the braider was done braiding the extentions into my hair she proceeded to cut the fke hair whic was sticking out of the braided strands. Yesterday as I began to take some of the extentions out I realized that she cut my at least more than half of my own hair instead of the extentions. What legal actions can I take if any? The purpose of me having my hair braided was to give my hair a rest from the chemical treatments I usually have and to allow it to grow some while it was braided.

Re: Bad Hair
I doubt that you will be able to prove any real damage. Hair grows back out, and you did not object to the cutting at the time.
She cut the hair to style it, but she apparently did not represent to you that she would only cut the extensions.
It is reasonable for you to assume that she would not cut your natural hair. However, given the way braiding is done, it is not reasonable for you to have assumed she understood that you did not want the post-extension styling cut to exceed the extensions. The worst that could happen is that you would need more hair on the next weave to replace what she cut.
I don't see a lawsuit here: one because her cutting your hair was entirely foreseeable and a likely result of a post-weave styling (to which you consented), and two, because, even if you could convince a jury that what she cut was unreasonable, you haven't suffered any real damages, because hair grows out and you can conceal any embarassment due to the overcutting with another weave.
