Legal Question in Construction Law in Connecticut

Bathroom remodel

My contractor will not fix his mistakes without me paying him the final payment. He agreed to final payment when the project was completed, it is not completed and he will not work now without money. What actions can I take against my contractor?

Re: Bathroom remodel

Was there a written or oral agreement with the contractor for the remodeling? The answer to your question will depend on the terms of your agreement with the contractor.

Re: Bathroom remodel

Any action against the contractor would be for breach of contract. However, you should be aware that if it is established that there was "substantial performance" with the job, the contractor would be entitled to recover for services performed. I would advise that you consult an attorney to review your claim and the contract.
