Legal Question in Construction Law in Connecticut

Breaking a Snow Plowing Contract

I entered into a contract for snowplowing this season with the customer. They loved the job I did for the major storm on 12-19. Then on 12-21 we got the other 3 inch storm. I went there and opened up the roadways and sanded them. I then left to plow another contract. The storm ended about 10 mintutes after I left. I was back at their place within 45 mintutes to finish up. When I got back and started to finish, the customer stopped me and proceeded to yell and make a scene in the main parking area of the buildings. Upset that I left before finishing the job. Standard practice is to open up the roadways and then come back to finish the job -(clean up) after the storm is over. The customer did not understand this and told me that they wanted me there 24/7 during a storm. The biggest thing was the sidewalks (clearly stated in contract done after storm end) Because I was not there till about 1/2 hour after the storm ended, they got upset it was not being done right away.

In my contract the customer has the right to break the contract -(I forgot to put in the contract that I could break it too)

Well I sent a email later that night and explained that I felt it best for them to find another contractor. Am I covered in doing this?

Re: Breaking a Snow Plowing Contract

What do you mean by "am I covered in doing this?"

I have not seen the contract so I don't know what it says, however, it appears the customer wants something other than what you agreed to do. Can they sue you? Anyone can sue anyone, it doesn't mean they will win.
