Getting Sued

my husband had a customer that he did home improvement work for. There were no contracts, proposals nothing in writting and only cash was exchanged. He had a contractors license at the time and we did claim the cash at the end of the year. However, 1 and 1/2 years later this customer is saying that the work he did was lousy and is now trying to sue us. To date, he had a dibilitating accident that he is no longer able to do home improvement work and has given up his contractor license. Does this customer have a leg to stand on in court to sue us? Can she even prove it was he that did this horrible work she is claiming?

Without a contract,your husband violated the Home Improvement Act and may be liable.Whether the other party can prove who did the work is part of their bueden of proof. Dennis P. McDonough
