Legal Question in Construction Law in Connecticut
My wife and I bought a flipped home in 2007. The selling agent vouched for the work of the home flippers, and she worked with the same company our agent worked for so we trusted her. Home was inspected and passed, though inspector said there were minor things that should be watched.
We lived in the home for 2 weeks and the bay window started leaking into the living room. We had water pour down a wall on the back of the house and into the basement. Back deck was installed improperly and is rotting sill plate on house. Siding was installed the wrong way. Roof was done the wrong way. Windows were installed incorrectly. A lot of damage to home as a result.
The two guys who flipped the home were in business together. One guy who doesn't have a contractor's license puts the home in his name as the homeowner and then he makes a fake contract with his buddy, who does have a license. Both guys do work in the homes they flip.
Can I sue in any way as the third party? Technically, since one guy lists the home in his own name he is the homeowner and can do whatever he wants to the property as long as permits are pulled. I'm just wondering if there is anything that can be done. These guys flipped a home down the street from us and that family is in even worse shape. However, the guys lied on their disclosures, so that family may have a better case.

I don't have enough information to tell you what kind of case you have. However, if you had the home inspected, then I'm not sure you have a cause of action.
