Legal Question in Consumer Law in Connecticut

Car Repair Problems

I took my car to have it checked out in January at a local dealership. The check engine light had come on, and the car did not want to catch a speed higher than 35 MPH. They told us that a sensor needed replacement and that it would be ''running as good as new''. They replaced it then we received another call. This time they stated it was the Computer. We did not enough funds to replace it so we picked it up, and when we arrived they printed a whole list of things ''wrong'' with the car. We then brought the car to a relative of ours who is a certified mechanic showing him the list they had given us. He laughed at the price. We were able to perform the items on the list for under $100 they wanted to charge us nearly $700. Our relative looked at just about every thing on the car but it was still performing badly we decided that we better take it to get the Computer replaced. The service rep than told us that the ''Speed Control Sensor'' needed to be replaced also. They insisted that we prepay for the service so we did. This morning I received a phone call from the service rep. This time I was told that the Mass Air flow sensor needs to be replaced. My relative checked it last week and it was fine. I want my money back, this is ridiculous

Re: Car Repair Problems

Unfortunately, I can not answer your question because I don't know how old the car is, whether you purchased it new or leased it, when you purchased it or leased it, and whether there is a warranty on the car.
