Legal Question in Consumer Law in Connecticut

Non disclosure on used vehicle

I bought a used car almost 3 yrs ago in Connecticut. It was certified by the dealer. When I moved to California, I thought of trading the car for the same brand dealer (though not related). I was surprised to know that the car that I bought got involved in an accident and it was never disclosed. Therefore I was offered below the fair market value. The CA dealer told me that they should not certify this car since the VINs are missing which leads them to believe that it was repaired. I consulted 2 dealership and got same result. I called the original dealer about this and told me they did not know this. As a ''goodwill-gesture'' they offered me a $2000 and ask me to sign a release of liability. Should I pursue a legal action or just accept the offer? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
