Legal Question in Consumer Law in Connecticut
Parents excluded from child's basketball practice
Hi, This might seem silly, but my 14-year-old sons (twins) have joined an AAU basketball team. Their coach is known to be verbally abusive (wish we knew about him before paying $1000 to play). The coach has now stated that parents will not be allowed to attend practices. We never signed any kind of contract or anything. He is insisting on this or we can leave the team. What can we do?

Re: Parents excluded from child's basketball practice
I went to the AAU website and looked at the rules (very briefly). You may want to investigate this further. Read the handbook and try to locate their rules on coaching. They must have some coaching rules and standards.
Usually these organizations have some sort of procedure or mechanism to file complaints and seek relief. If you don't find anything then this question would need further research/review.
