credit card debt

hello i hade a credit card for 4 years and had been paying every month for payment protection, i lost my job due to a medical reasons, and tried to put this into effect, they told me that i could use it at that point. well i hadn't payed anything on that bill as i had no money. well now i have gotten married and they told my husband that he is now responsible for this debt. we weren't married when i had accrued that debt. is he responsible for paying it back?

Unless I'm missing something here, your husband can not be responsible for the debt whether you were married or not when you incurred it. However, if he co-signed on the debt, he would be responsible.

My suggestion is to call the attorney general's office in Hartford and see if they will assist you with this.
