Re: credit report

I cannot answer your question, except in general terms. When you got divorsed, If your name was on the credit card or you used it, It should have been resolved at that time as to whom was resposible for payment. If he was and it shows on your credit report as in arrears, you can file file a contempt motion, because he did not pay. I would contact the card company ASAP and inform them that you will not be resposible for any charges, get the name of the person you spoke to and the address where a letter should be sent to cancel your name from the account. Send the letter confirming your conversation and canceling the account by certified mail, plus regular mail. If you were not on the account, you can sumbit a dispute that your name is not on the account and demand to be removed from the credit report. You can send a statement to the Credit Reporting agency disputing the claim and a statement why you are not liable for the debt.

Other than that, your question is vague in details, so I can't give you a definite route to follow. You should contact your divorse attorney and advice on how to proceed. Tom Noonan
