Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Connecticut
Is a current judgement dischargable?
I have a $229,000.00 judgement against me and my wife. It was obtained in a Florida court in 1994. I need some options to deal with this, the creditor and his attorney are not willing to negotiate any reasonable terms. They placed a lein on my home, confiscated all my accounts, and I am about to be examined under oath again regarding our assets.

Depending on your actual financial condition, your only hope may be to file bankruptcy. I am a collection attorney, and if I were representing your judgment creditor I'd be in your shorts and in your face every week.
If the debt on which the lawsuit was based was incurred AFTER 9/30/93, you have a $75,000 exemption for equity in your home. Only a knowledgeable bankruptcy attorney can give you exact advice based on your actual situation.
