Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Connecticut

House lein

I have a credit card with about 13,000.00 on it and can't pay because of medical problems. I don't own my home, it's my wifes home and my name is not on the title. The credit card company put a lein on the property, we are not devorced but seperated. This house has been in my wifes name since 2002. Can they do this in the state of Connecticut. What can i do .
