Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Connecticut

loan collection

On 08/15/03 I loaned a relative $2,000.00 (with a personal check)to be paid back within six months. To this day this person has refused to pay me back.

Unfotunately, I have been unable to locate the cancelled check, but I do have a carbon copy of the check with his name on it and the bank statement with the check number and date it was processed by the bank.

Would this two documents be enough to pursue and win this case in Court. Also, is there a dead line or time limit for the pusuance of such cases?

Re: loan collection

Statute of limitations is six years. Your bank has a copy of your check in its microfilm records. If you know the check number it will cost you little or nothing to get it, and you will get a copy of both sides, which will give you the person's endorsement, too.
