Re: release of judgement

If by your question you mean, "When does the fact of the judgment stop showing up on COURT records?" the answer is "never." BUT

If by your question you mean, "When does the fact of the judgment stop showing up on my credit report?" the answer is "When it's so old that the credit reporting agencies don't bother going back that far, which is about seven to ten years." BUT

If by your question you mean, "How can I get court records to show that I have PAID the judgment and don't owe it any more?" the answer is NOW. Once the judgment is fully paid (and the check has cleared) the creditor is REQUIRED to file with the court (or at least sign and give to you so you can file it with the court) a document that identifies the case and says "Notice is hereby given that the judgment in the above-entitled matter has been fully paid and satisfied." or words to that effect.

If the creditor was represented by an attorney, a simple request for this should do the trick.
