Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut
Caught shoplifting. What's going to happen????
I was caught shoplifting & arrested. The police said it was 6th degree larceny, the merchandise totalled to about $100. I'm 19 and it's my first arrest. I haven't told my parents because I want to go to court and work this out on my own. Is this a bad idea? Do I need a lawyer?

My suggestion would be to go to court the first appearance and see what kind of offer they make you. In all liklihood you will be eligible for AR and it is possible, although not likely you can get the charge nolled.
If you dont like the offer, the Court will give you time to hire a lawyer to go back to court with the next time.
Good luck!
