Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut
Hi,
I was charged with disordely conduct. The police escorted me to a hotel and waited around. I asked to be taken to a hospital and they refused and arrested me instead. The reason I began to express dismat was that the hotel inavertedly assigned me to an occupied room. Can I fight this.

You can fight anything. Have you ever been convicted of a crime? What did you do that came to police attention? What did you do that got you arrested? Were drugs or alcohol involved? Is there an explanation for your behavior that got you arrested? You can go early on your court date and sign up to talk with the prosecutor before court. If you have no record, you can ask for pretrial diversion or accelerated rehabilitation, or if what happened was really minimal, as the prosecutor to nolle the charges. If you have no money you can request a public defender. And, of course, you can hire an attorney. Disorderly conduct is one of the least severe charges in Ct, but theoretically you could do jail time. I used to be a prosecutor in Stamford and Norwalk.
