Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut
Failure to appear
In Oct, 1999 I was charged with DUI and DWI IN Danbury and Waterbury CT, I did not hit anyone, or anything, I was legal to be driving, Reg, and insured. But I did not show up for court in either courts. Is it possible for me to handle these problems from Florida? And if not,,will I most likely be going to Jail if I turn myself in? I would just hate to go to jail for 1 yr in each court for my FTA. Please help me with any information you can. I am willing to plead and pay what ever fines they may want, I just am worried what they will do if I fly up there and turn myself in....thanks for your help

Re: Failure to appear
I do not think you can avoid personal appearances in court in Connecticut. Most likely you have additional charges failure to appear added to the list of charges and an arrest warrant has been issued. My advice is to conntact an attorney as soon as you can, because if you get stopped and the police do a check of your history, You may have additional charges filed against you and Florida and maybe any other state that honors Connecticut's arrest warrants will hold you, in jail, until the States decided what procedures they want to follow.
