Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut
Fake checks
I cashed a check for a ''friend'' through my checking account and now the bank (one month later) tells me the check is was fake. My ''friend'' is no where to be found and now i'm liabale and being accused of bank fraud. Please i don't know what to do or who to turn. Thank you

If you accepted a check from a "friend" and cashed it in your bank, I assume you signed it and therefore are resposible to make it good. If the check was "fake", there may be criminal charges that you can file a complaint with your local police department, with your documation and a statement from your bank, and you can sue your friend for the bad check. However, you, as the one who received the money from the bank, are responsible to the bank. Tom Noonan
