Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut

false allegations against a child

My stepdaughter's mother is angry at losing custody of her child and angry that I contacted the police when her 15 year old son posted threats of physical violence against my son online. She called the police on my son accusing him of beating up my stepdaughter and leaving bruises all over her body that she said she saw 4 days prior when she visited her. The police interrogated my son (who is very emotionally shaken after these two incidents) and questioned my stepdaughter, the school nurse and teacher and found that no such thing happened and that my stepdaughter never reported such a thing to her mother. What can be done to stop her from harrassing my son and making allegations against him or any of the rest of us. She has been doing this for 3 years, and it is escalating recently. Do we have any legal recourse?

Re: false allegations against a child

With the facts provided, you may have a cause of action for harassment. In addition, the mother may also be liable for filing false charges with the police report. These and any other cause of action are subject to a further factual review.
