Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut
Larceny - 6th degree
I am 29yrs old ,was caught shoplifting for items costing 150$. I was arrested and now out on bail and have to appear in the court in one weeks time.It is my first time offense.Please advice should I hire an attorney? What should I do please help. I cannot afford high fees of the lawyers, should I contact Public defender or non profit org lawyer? Should I contact the store and apologize and pay the money and ask them not to press charges against me . ..Thank u.

I would not contact anyone except an attorney. Depending on your income, you may qualify for a public defender. You also have the option of hiring a private attorney.
