Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut
Legally Purchased Stolen Property
I leagally purchased some resturaunt equipment from an estate auction. I had 1 item listed on Ebay, and I got an email from the company that sells the machine informing me that it was stolen property and that I had to return it to them. There is a label on it that reads ''Property of XXX Co'' which is who emailed me. Am I at risk of being charged? What are my obligations?

Re: Legally Purchased Stolen Property
You may be considered a bona fide purchaser if you satisfy a certain criteria. If you purchased the property for value, in the ordinary course of business without knowledge that it was stolen, then you may be protected. If you do not meet one of these requirements, then you may be liable. Hope this helps.
