Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut
Possession of tiny amount of cannabis and pipe
My son was stopped for speeding and was asked if the officer could search his car. to which my son said ''I would prefer no, as I am running late'' The officer searched it anyway, and found a tiny amount of cannabis and a pipe, well under the passenger side seat. Needless to say, it shouldn't have been there. However, it was, and he was arrested. now I would like to know what a 19 year old first offender can expect when he appears in court. Do we need an attorney? The amount of marjuana was not measurable, but was none the less there. The officer did a check, and confirmed for himself that there is no prior record. I would appreciate any input you may give, and an idea what to expect at court, as we are not familiar with the court system. Thank you

Re: Possession of tiny amount of cannabis and pipe
Although it does not appear serious,I would not go into a criminal Court without an attorney. In particular, there is a possibility this case could be thrown out. Dennis P. McDonough,Esq.
