Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut
Question about Larceny
I was contracted to do a HVAC job last year, the buyers paid be $6,000 deposit and i told the buyers that i couldn't start for about a month, well then a few weeks they said they wanted to cancel the job, and i had already special ordered equipment and some of the stuff you cant return. They only gave me about 2 weeks to return their money. Then i was contacted by a detective and was told their was complaint, so i ended up paying them back and the complaint was withdrawn. Well about a week ago or so i was contacted saying there was a warrant for commiting Larceny against these people. Even the detective said that she knew i paid them back but the court wanted to pursue it. Now I know it took me alittle while to pay them back but they did get their money back. So Restoration was given, Im wondering if the Detective agrees with me and the Buyers withdrew the complaint, Wouldnt the buyers be the ones that have to press charges. And if there was restoration already paid, would this easy to be thrown out?

Re: Question about Larceny
Despite the buyers lack of desire to press charges, the state can still proceed on their behalf. It doesn't make sense but it does occur. Evidence of payment would certainly provide you with a defense.
You have alot of good issues here that do not seem to make sense.
