My brother was arrested in Connecticut approx 2 years ago for a suspected DUI (he refused the breath test when he was pulled over). He was let out on bail, and went to court several times in CT for this. After the third time, he stopped showing up. The CT state police have called my residence in Nj as well as his work, which is in NJ as well, to say they have a warrant for his arrest. Can they come into NJ to arrest him or is the warrant only good if he goes back into CT? Also, how long is the warrant good for?

The local police can arrest your "brother" on a New Jersey warrant, for being a fugitive from justice from Connecticut, based upon information and belief from the Connecticut police. Whether they will do this for a DWI is questionable. Usually what happens is if your "brother" gets into trouble in NJ, the Conn. warrant will show up, and the local authorities will issue a fugitive warrant, and hold for extradition of a waiver of extradition.

This isn't a staute of limitations issue - since your brother has already been served Connecticut charges, they will last indefinately. Better get a Conn. lawyer for him and take care of the charges.
