Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut
Stolen Property
I owned a trailer in which I stored antique motorcycle parts and furniture. I rented a space on someone's property for the trailer. After some time, the property owner said he was selling the property and I would have to move the trailer. I spoke to the new ''owner'' who said I could leave it there at no charge. Months later I discovered that the original owner had never sold the property and had disposed of my merchandise (sold it, scrapped it, burned it). Only the empty trailer was left there. I filed a police report. What recourse do I have to recover the value of my stolen property?
