Legal Question in Criminal Law in Connecticut
unfair misdemeanor for larceny
im 17, me and my friend went to the public city lake for a normal sunny day. We were playing soccer, and went for a dive and sat on teh benches and talked, while all this was happening we had noticed a plastic conoe on the shore just sitting there lookin abandoned for a about 20 min or more it was just there. We thought it was a public conoe to serve as community conoe. We decided to just go for a ride, when we were coming back we noticed two people watitin on shore, we got very nervous because we thought they were the owners, when we get there the owner was really mad but we were saying we were sorry and that we didn't know it was someones, but all of a sudden a cop pats my back tells me to shut up and handcuffs me and my friend, tells us to sit on teh bench and doesn even read us our rights, then he puts us to sit down under a tree outside while everyone was watching us and it was just humiliating and blown out of proportion. Now we are set to court with ''larceny'' charges which techinically it was not what we've done. From a normal day to a nightmare for no reason. I would like to please know what should we do, i want to plead not guilty becuase i know im not but im afraid that if found guilty i may get a high charge.
