Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Connecticut

Wage discrimination - Direct reports make more than boss

I recently left a company where I had been promoted to a district manager 2 1/2 years earlier. I was surprised to find out that 7 of my 10 direct reports (former peers)had higher base salaries and in some cases by a significant amount. I questioned this in concern I was not being fairly compensated for my current role based on these facts and was told repeatedly that there was nothing they could do. I was in this situation for 2 years. My performance appraisals were consistently ''exceeds expectations'' Is this a potential case for wage discrimination?
